SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Presiden Indonesia Joko Widodo telah meminta sejumlah menteri kabinetnya untuk menyusun regulasi yang mengatur perdagangan tanaman Kratom. Hal ini diungkapkan Kepala Kantor Staf Presiden (KSP) Moeldoko usai rapat terbatas bersama Presiden, Kamis (20/6).
Moeldoko mengungkapkan lebih dari 18.000 keluarga di Kalimantan Barat bergantung pada tanaman ini. Bentuknya yang berupa pohon juga dapat mendorong pelestarian lingkungan. “Maka perlu ada tata kelolanya, tata niaganya gimana yang kedua, ketiga legalitasnya,” sebut Moeldoko.
Lebih lanjut, ia juga meminta Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) untuk segera menyelesaikan penelitiannya terutama mengenai apakah tanaman ini termasuk kategori narkotika atau tidak.
Sementara itu, Menteri Perdagangan Zulkifli Hasan juga mendukung tata kelola perdagangan terkait ekspor tanaman ini. Ia menyebutkan dengan adanya regulasi ekspor ini, eksportir harus mendaftar sehingga dapat dilakukan standarisasi mutu agar tidak merugikan petani.
