Gurun Pasir di Al Jawf, Arab Saudi Diselimuti Salju

SEAToday.com, Sakaka - Hujan lebat dan hujan es telah menyelimuti provinsi Al-Jawf di Utara Arab Saudi dengan hamparan putih salju, Jumat (1/11) mengubah pemandangan gurun pasir bak “winter wonderland”.
Lebatnya hujan dan hujan es mengguyur berbagai wilayah di Al-Jawf sejak Rabu (30/10), membasahi tanah mengaliri sungai. Cuaca tersebut juga menyebabkan banjir bandang di beberapa daerah, dengan Pusat Meteorologi Nasional (NCM) telah mengeluarkan peringatan akan cuaca ekstrem dalam beberapa hari mendatang.
Meskipun hujan salju bukanlah hal yang tidak biasa di wilayah ini, fenomena tahun ini tidak terduga karena merupakan awal yang lebih cepat untuk memulai musim dingin. Salju ini mengejutkan beberapa orang karena biasanya salju turun pada bulan Desember dan Januari. NCM mengaitkannya dengan sistem tekanan rendah yang berasal dari Laut Arab yang meluas ke Oman. Sistem ini membawa udara dengan banyak air ke daerah yang biasanya kering, dan mengakibatkan perubahan cuaca yang signifikan.
