SEAToday.com, Vietnam Truong My Lan, pebisnis wanita yang menjadi salah satu orang terkaya di Vietnam, dijatuhi hukuman mati oleh pengadilan di Kota Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, Kamis (11/4). Lan, yang merupakan ketua Van Thinh Phat Holdings Group, dikenal dengan kisah suksesnya membangun kerajaan bisnis properti yang besar.

Dilansir dari media pemerintah Vietnam, Lan terbukti bersalah atas penggelapan, penyuapan, dan pelanggaran peraturan perbankan dalam kasus penipuan senilai 12,46 miliar dolar AS (sekitar 200 triliun rupiah). Skandal ini menjadi yang terbesar dalam sejarah keuangan Vietnam. Ia memanfaatkan posisinya untuk menipu Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB) melalui skema pinjaman fiktif dan suap kepada pejabat pemerintah.

Meskipun hukuman mati jarang dijatuhkan di Vietnam, putusan ini menunjukkan komitmen tegas pemerintah setempat dalam memberantas korupsi dan kejahatan keuangan.
