ICJ akan Menyampaikan Putusan atas Kasus Genosida pada 26 Januari
SEAToday.com, Den Haag - Mahkamah Internasional (ICJ) mengumumkan putusan atas kasus genosida yang diajukan Afrika Selatan terhadap Israel akan diumumkan pada Jumat (26/1) pukul 12.00 GMT.
Putusan Jumat ini tidak akan membahas pertanyaan apakah Israel melakukan genosida, tapi untuk melihat kemungkinan langkah darurat yang dapat diambil. Putusan ICJ berpotensi memerintahkan tindakan darurat terhadap Israel atas operasi militernya di Gaza sesuai dengan permintaan Afrika Selatan demi melindungi warga Palestina dari potensi pelanggaran konvensi genosida.
Afrika Selatan sebelumnya telah membawa Israel ke ICJ atas dugaan pelanggaran Konvensi Genosida 1948. Afrika Selatan mengajukan sembilan permohonan kepada ICJ mencakup penghentian segera operasi militer Israel, mengambil langkah untuk mencegah genosida terhadap warga Palestina, akses terhadap bantuan kemanusiaan, dan memastikan para pengungsi untuk kembali ke rumah mereka.
