Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia Tetapkan Kesepian Sebagai Masalah Kesehatan Global
SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Organisasi Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) menetapkan kesepian sebagai ancaman kesehatan global yang memiliki dampak serius.
Untuk menanggulangi hal tersebut, WHO meluncurkan Komisi Internasional yang diketuai oleh ahli bedah umum asal Amerika Serikat, Dr. Vivek Murthy, dan perwakilan Pemuda Uni Afrika, Chido Mpemba. Selama tiga tahun kedepan, komisi ini berfokus pada isu kesehatan yang berkaitan dengan dampak kesepian, mengkaji perkembangan ilmiah terbaru, dan merancang strategi agar orang-orang dapat memperdalam hubungan sosial mereka.
Saat ini, kesepian tidak bisa dianggap remeh, karena dapat menimbulkan masalah kesehatan pada masyarakat global. Ahli bedah umum AS Dr. Vivek Murthy menyebutkan, risiko kesehatannya sama buruknya dengan merokok hingga 15 batang sehari, bahkan lebih besar daripada risiko obesitas dan kurangnya aktivitas fisik.
