Robert Prevost Is Officially Become Pope Leo XIV

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost from the United States (US) was elected as the new Pope to replace Pope Francis who died on April 21.
Prevost chose the name Pope Leo XIV as his official papal name and the first Pope from the United States (US) in two thousand years. Pope Leo XIV himself is the 267th Pope in the history of the Catholic Church Popes.
Based on the Vatican News live streaming, Prevost was elected on the second day of the conclave or to be precise on Thursday (8/5/2025) evening WIB. White smoke billowed from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, where the conclave took place.
This conclave was attended by 133 cardinals from several countries, including Indonesia. The conclave as usual took place behind closed doors in the Sistine Chapel.
The cardinal electors have also been sworn in to maintain secrecy during the process. They also undergo isolation to avoid foreign intervention.
Prevost himself was born in Chicago, United States in September 1955. He is the Archbishop of Chicago, which is the largest Archdiocese in the United States.
