BKKBN Requests Elsimil Certificate as Requirement for Marriage License

BKKBN Requests Elsimil Certificate as Requirement for Marriage License

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) asked local governments to issue regulations requiring brides-to-be to attach an electronic certificate of marriage readiness and pregnancy (Elsimil) to their marriage license.

BKKBN Deputy for Family Welfare and Family Empowerment Nopian Andusti said, the fulfillment of this requirement will make brides-to-be more disciplined before deciding to settle down and have children. With careful preparation, children can avoid stunting.

He also noted the importance of health check-ups and support for three months before marriage, as well as marriage counseling with stunting prevention materials.

"This three-month period is considered to improve the condition of future mothers to have a healthy pregnancy and give birth to healthy children who are also free from the risk of stunting," he said.
