3 Orangutan yang Diselamatkan, Dipulangkan dari Thailand ke Indonesia
SEAToday.com, Bangkok - Kedutaan Besar Republik Indonesia (KBRI) di Bangkok menyatakan bahwa Thailand melakukan repatriasi tiga orang utan sitaan ke habitat aslinya, Indonesia. Ketiga orang utan tersebut telah tiba di Indonesia pada Kamis (21/12).
Menurut keterangan KBRI Bangkok, repatriasi ini dilakukan pemerintah Thailand atas permintaan pemerintah Indonesia melalui kesepakatan Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Direktur Jenderal Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam dan Ekosistem Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) Satyawan Pudyatmoko menjelaskan bahwa ketiga orang utan tersebut diselamatkan dari penyelundupan pada 2016.
Nama dari ketiga orang utan tersebut adalah Nobita, jantan berusia tujuh tahun, Shizuka, betina berusia tujuh tahun, dan Brian yang berusia lima tahun. Sebelum diterbangkan ke Indonesia, mereka dirawat di Kho Pratubchang Wildlife Rescue Center (KPRC) di Provinsi Ratchaburi, Thailand. Mereka akan direhabilitasi di Jambi, sebelum kemudian akan dilepasliarkan ke habitat alami mereka.
